TRS senior leader and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday demanded that Congress president Rahul Gandhi who promised special category status to Andhra Pradesh, must make a commitment to provide industrial incentives to Telangana on a par with special category status, before he steps on Telangana soil for his election campaign on October 20.

Terming both BJP and Congress as opportunistic forces, the Minister stated that there was no room for such national parties in the State. He opined that people were aware that only Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao can safeguard them from opportunistic politics besides ensuring welfare and development. He said the TRS government had taken up over 400 schemes in the State in last four years.

Addressing a gathering of BJP leaders who joined TRS at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao said both BJP and Congress were surpassing each other in dishing out injustice to Telangana State. He pointed out that while BJP in alliance with TDP took away seven mandals from Telangana to merge them with Andhra Pradesh, now Congress in alliance with TDP was repeating the same mistake by offering special category status to destroy the opportunities for a developing State like Telangana which suffered for several decades at the hands of the Andhra rulers.

“BJP national president Amit Shah and other BJP leaders have no moral right to criticise the Telangana government as they were responsible for transfer of seven mandals and also Sileru power project from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. People will not forget their injustice to the State,” he said.

The Minister stated that the TRS government had launched over 400 schemes in the State, while no major scheme was successfully implemented by the BJP government in the country to benefit the poor. He stated that rising fuel prices, falling rupee value and downfall of the stock market, indicate the sorry state of affairs in the BJP rule. “The Narendra Modi government successfully robbed the poor women who saved their hard-earned cash in their spice-boxes under the guise of demonetisation which left them devastated,” he added.

Harish Rao strongly felt that any opportunity given to the Prajakutami to rule the State, would mean injustice to Telangana State in division of assets and employees with regard to AP Reorganisation Act. He pointed out that the then Congress government at the Centre assured to accord national project status to Polavaram project but no such commitment was given to irrigation projects in Telangana state.

Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy reiterated that TRS was growing stronger everyday in the State due to which the Opposition parties were scared to face the ruling party in the elections and formed an alliance against TRS.“But no force can stop TRS from winning over 100 seats in the Assembly elections. TRS had put Telangana State on top of the nation’s growth chart and people would render the same gesture to TRS in the State elections,” he asserted.

MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs Bhupal Reddy and Srinvas Reddy, TRS nominees G Mahipal Reddy, Chinta Prabhakar, Anjaiah Yadav and other TRS leaders were also present. BJP former MLA Satyanarayana joined TRS in the presence of the Ministers on Sunday evening.
