TS Polls: Over 5.75 lakh people to vote first time

As per second Special Summary Revision (SSR)-2018 released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 12, among new additions to voters’ list, around 5,75,500 are first time voters aged between 18 and 19 years, including 3.22 lakh men, 2.53 lakh women and 112 third gender voters. In all, 432 voters belonging to third gender enrolled themselves during the second SSR taking their total number to 2,663 in the State.Of the total 2.73 crore voters, 17,68,873 inclusions and 5,87,046 deletions were made since the draft publication of electoral rolls this year. Thus, there was a net increase of 11,81,827 electors over the draft electoral roll published on September 10 this year under second SSR-2018.


The total service voters in the electoral rolls are 9,451 as per second SSR-2018. Hundred per cent photo and EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) coverage has been achieved since SSR-2012 and the same is being continued. The Electoral Population (EP) ratio as per the final roll with reference to projected population of 3.80-plus crore in 2018 is 719 voters per 1,000 citizens.In all, there are 32,574 polling stations in the State. Nearly 51 per cent of polling station locations have only one polling booth while around 3.15 per cent polling station locations have five or more polling booths.
