Use clay idols during Ganesh Chaturthi: GHMC

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy has appealed citizens, residential welfare association, colony associations and NGOs to use clay idols during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations to curb pollution in an effort to make Hyderabad a pollution-free city. Mr Janardhan Reddy said since last three years citizens have been using clay idols and would urge citizens to continue with the same during the current year also. He also asked RWAs, NGOs and colony associations to participate in awareness campaigns to raise the awareness and immerse eco-friendly idols. The GHMC would also establish distribution centres for clay Ganesh as an environment friendly initiative. He said that the civic body will link the campaign with the idols being donated under Corporate Social Responsibility.   He said a link regarding the Swachh Ganesha campaign will be provided on GHMC website.
